Why Oakland
The Broadway location is where Ohgane started — our first restaurant, open since 2005. Our team has been grilling galbi at this corner of Broadway and 39th for two decades, and the room still looks and smells the way it did when we opened: built-in table grills, ventilation hoods that have seen two decades of marinade smoke, and a banchan station the prep team rebuilds from scratch every morning.
What hasn't changed is the marinade. The short rib (galbi) is cut by hand, scored across the bone, and held in a soy-pear-garlic marinade for 72 hours before it ever sees a grill. The brisket gets a separate, simpler treatment — fish sauce, sesame oil, scallion — and lives or dies on the cut, which is why we pay for USDA Choice.
Oakland is the flagship and the location regulars come back to. If you've eaten Korean BBQ in the East Bay any time since 2005, there's a good chance the table looked exactly like this one.
All-You-Can-Eat
The Oakland AYCE program runs every service. Standard AYCE Combo: unlimited galbi, bulgogi, spicy pork, brisket, plus the full banchan rotation, kimchi pancake, rice, and lettuce wraps. 2-hour seating limit, available all day every day. Parking & Directions
Street parking on Broadway is metered until 6 PM and free in the evenings. The easiest off-street option is the public lot at Broadway and 39th Street, one block north. From 580: take the 38th Street exit east, turn right on Broadway. From 24: take Broadway south through the tunnel; we're past Pleasant Valley on the right. BART 19th Street station is a 15-minute walk. AC Transit lines 6, 18, and 51A stop within two blocks.
Catering & Private Events
Oakland is our home base for off-premise catering and private parties. From corporate lunches to wedding receptions of 200+.
